Quote the delivery all the way to the receiving site
For a Belize cable order, specify whether the receiving address is on the mainland or requires a further transfer to an island. Delivery to a cargo terminal in Belize City is not the same service as delivery to a contractor in Belmopan, a southern site or San Pedro. That distinction matters when a cable reel is too heavy or large for the final carrier's normal handling.
Prepare the importer and ASYCUDA declaration
The Belize Tax Service notice effective February 2, 2026 requires all importers to have a valid Tax Identification Number (TIN). Confirm this before collection, including for a one-time purchase.
Belize Customs uses ASYCUDAWorld for cargo clearance. Before dispatch, confirm the importing entity, tax-identification details and the broker or authorized representative who will submit the declaration. Ask for document requirements against the exact order rather than using a passenger-arrival checklist.
Give the broker the commercial invoice, manufacturer part numbers and datasheets, packing list and transport details. On multi-reel orders, identify each reel's length and weight. If the freight company consolidates several purchases, make sure Ramcorp's packages remain identifiable in the consolidated paperwork and can be released to the intended consignee.
Do not estimate duty from a general percentage
Belize Customs publishes its Tariff and Trade Classification by chapter. Have the broker select the complete tariff line for the cable's construction, voltage and connector configuration. A catalog category or a U.S. export code is not a final Belize tax assessment.
The Customs tax guidance describes customs valuation and charges beyond import duty, including GST and other applicable taxes. Ask for a calculation separating customs value, duty, applicable taxes, broker fees, port handling and onward freight. A freight quote or “shipping included” note should not be read as payment of these import charges.
State the currency and the agreed delivery point on the quotation. If a buyer has a project concession or other exemption, have the broker confirm the approval and procedure before shipment; do not reduce the invoice value to imitate an exemption.
Belize City, Big Creek and onward transfers
The Belize Port Authority's facility directory identifies the Port of Belize in Belize City and Big Creek in Stann Creek District. Compare available cargo services to these named facilities rather than assuming that every coastal entry point handles commercial reels.
- Mainland delivery: give the forwarder the district, town and exact address, not just “Belize.” Include unloading capability and receiving hours.
- Southern projects: request a Big Creek option if the forwarder offers a suitable service, then compare the full inland cost with the Belize City option.
- Island destinations: obtain written acceptance of reel dimensions and weight for the final transfer, and identify who arranges it after customs release.
- Cross-border road service: identify the actual land entry and transit responsibilities. Do not select a Belize seaport code for a shipment that does not unload from a vessel there.

Planning reference from CBP Appendix F, February 2022 (archived copy), not a current operational list. Before filing, have the forwarder confirm the actual port and current code against CBP Schedule K. An “other ports” entry is not a substitute for identifying a known terminal.
The Census AES instructions use Schedule K for the foreign port of unlading on vessel shipments. It is neither the tariff classification nor the U.S. port-of-export code. The authorized filer determines whether EEI is required and which data apply to the transport mode.
The Dangriga/Stann Creek entry is a code reference, not a statement that a particular terminal or sailing is currently available. Confirm service before choosing it.
Confirm cable acceptance for the installation
The U.S. Commercial Service identifies the Belize Bureau of Standards as the authority for standards areas including labeling and packaging. Ask the importer to check applicable requirements with BBS; do not assume all cable needs the same approval or that no checks apply.
For coastal or exposed installations, tell the engineer whether the cable will face sunlight, standing water, salt spray or movement. Request the specific ratings needed for that exposure. An indoor network-cable rating does not by itself establish suitability for outdoor routing, and a marine application may have additional project requirements.
