Find answers to common questions about shipping, delivery times, tracking, carriers, packaging, and international shipping for wire and cable orders from Ramcorp Wire & Cable.
Shipping & Delivery
How long will it take to receive my order?
Most in-stock orders ship within 24 business hours. Transit time depends on the shipping method and destination — typically 1–5 business days for domestic ground shipments. Transit times are estimates only and are not guaranteed unless expedited service is specifically arranged. If an item requires cutting, spooling, or other customization, additional handling time may apply. For time-sensitive orders, contact our sales team to confirm availability and estimated delivery before placing your order.
What is the handling time?
Our standard handling time is 24 business hours (excluding weekends and holidays). This is the time from order confirmation to shipment. Orders placed after business hours or on weekends begin processing the next business day. Large or custom-cut orders may require additional handling time — we'll notify you if your order will take longer than 24 hours to ship.
How will I know when my order ships?
You'll receive an automatic email notification with your tracking number as soon as your order ships. If you placed your order by phone or purchase order, your sales contact will provide tracking information directly. You can also check your order status by logging into your account on our website.
Can I request expedited shipping?
Yes. We offer expedited shipping options including next-day and two-day air for urgent orders. Contact our sales team before placing your order to confirm expedited availability and pricing. Additional shipping charges apply for expedited service.
Receiving & Inspection
What are my responsibilities when receiving a shipment?
All shipments must be inspected at the time of delivery. Any visible damage must be noted on the carrier's delivery receipt and signed as damaged. Failure to note damage at delivery may result in denial of the claim by the carrier, and Ramcorp may not be able to provide a replacement or refund. For concealed damage (not visible at delivery), notify Ramcorp within 48 hours of delivery and retain all packaging materials for carrier inspection. The Company reserves the right to deny claims reported after this period.
When does ownership transfer?
Title and risk of loss pass to the customer upon delivery of the shipment to the carrier unless otherwise agreed in writing. This applies to all shipments including freight collect, customer-arranged shipping, and international orders.
Carriers & Shipping Methods
What carriers do you use to ship?
For smaller shipments, we typically use UPS. Heavier shipments are sent via FedEx Ground or other major ground carriers. Freight shipments (palletized loads, large reels) ship via LTL (less-than-truckload) carriers or full truckload depending on order size. For international shipments, we can use your freight forwarder, commercial carriers, or USPS for small parcel shipments where applicable.
Will you ship freight collect using my UPS or carrier account?
Yes. If you have a UPS, FedEx, or LTL carrier account and would like to ship freight collect (billed to your account), let us know before placing your order. We'll apply your account number to the shipment. This is common for larger customers who have negotiated shipping rates with their own carriers.
Are there additional freight delivery charges?
Freight shipments may be subject to additional accessorial charges including liftgate service, residential delivery, limited access locations (job sites, schools, construction zones), appointment delivery, or re-delivery. These charges are assessed by the carrier and are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed. Notify us of any delivery requirements or site restrictions when placing your order so we can provide an accurate freight quote.
Do you offer job-site delivery?
Yes. We coordinate deliveries to job sites, construction projects, and facilities across the United States. Job sites are typically classified as limited access by carriers, which may incur additional delivery charges. For large orders requiring phased or scheduled deliveries, contact our sales team to set up a delivery schedule aligned with your project timeline.
Drop Shipping & Packaging
Do you charge extra for drop shipping?
No. We are happy to drop ship orders directly to your customer or job site at no additional charge. Provide the ship-to address when placing your order, and we'll ship directly to that location. Packing slips can be customized to exclude pricing if you're drop shipping to an end customer.
How do you package orders for shipment?
We package every order carefully based on the product type, quantity, and weight. Smaller orders ship in boxes with appropriate packing material. Larger orders ship on shrink-wrapped pallets. Reels ship on the manufacturer's original reel or on Ramcorp reels, protected for transit. Reels and pallets are packaged for standard freight handling conditions. Once shipped, the carrier is responsible for safe delivery. If you have specific packaging requirements, let us know when placing your order.
International Shipping
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship wire and cable to businesses in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada, the Middle East, Asia, and other international destinations permitted by U.S. export laws. We can ship using your freight forwarder or arrange international shipping through our logistics partners. The customer is responsible for ensuring compliance with import regulations in the destination country. For export documentation, HS codes, and country-specific guidance, see our Export & International Shipping resources.
What export documentation do you provide?
Documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, mill certifications, and test reports is provided when available from the manufacturer. Availability varies by product and manufacturer. If specific documentation is required for customs clearance, it must be requested at the time of quoting or order placement. See our Export Documents guide for details on common documentation requirements.
Are there any countries you cannot ship to?
We comply with all U.S. export regulations, including EAR (Export Administration Regulations) and OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctions. We cannot ship to embargoed or sanctioned countries or to denied parties. Most wire and cable products are classified EAR99, which allows export to most destinations without a license. See our EAR99 guide for more information.
